For most, the goal of their professional lives is to play one day in the middle of winter. If they get there, ultimate glory is within their grasp. If not, you have to watch other men reach for that glory, and it's winter. Bones break. Tendons tear. Muscles quit. Egos collapse. Why would you ever want to play football?
